A timeless Philly Cheesesteak with tender, juicy ribeye, caramelized onions, and melty cheese—plus an optional crispy cheese crust that adds a golden, lacy crunch to every bite!
Ingredients: Serves 2
- 1 lb ribeye steak, thinly sliced (freeze for 30 minutes for easier slicing)
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp butter
- 1 small onion, thinly sliced
- 1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 4 slices provolone or white American cheese
- 2 hoagie rolls
Optional Crispy Cheese Crust:
- ½ cup shredded cheddar or provolone
Instructions
1. Cook the Steak & Veggies:
- Heat olive oil and butter in a skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add onions and peppers, cooking until soft and slightly caramelized, about 5 minutes. Push to one side.
- Add seasoned (with salt and pepper) sliced ribeye to the skillet, add Worcestershire sauce. Sear until browned, then mix with the veggies.
- Lay cheese slices over the steak mixture and let them melt.
2. Toast the Rolls:
- Lightly toast the hoagie rolls in a dry skillet or under the broiler until golden.
3. (Optional) Make the Crispy Cheese Crust:
- Heat a nonstick skillet over medium heat.
- Sprinkle ¼ cup of shredded cheese in the shape of a hoagie roll.
- Place the cut side of the toasted roll directly onto the cheese. Let it crisp for 1-2 minutes until golden and lacy.
- Repeat with the second roll.
4. Assemble & Serve:
- Load up the toasted hoagies with the cheesy steak mixture.
- Serve immediately—classic or with that crispy cheese crust for an extra indulgent bite!
