Smash Burger Tacos

Ingredients (Makes 6 tacos)

For the Tacos:

  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20 for best flavor)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • 6 small flour tortillas (street taco size)
  • 6 slices American cheese (or cheddar)
  • ½ small red onion, finely diced
  • 1 small dill pickle, finely diced
  • Shredded lettuce (optional, for topping)

For the Burger Sauce:

  • ¼ cup mayo
  • 1 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tsp mustard
  • 1 tbsp finely diced pickles or relish
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp smoked paprika

Instructions

1. Make the Sauce

In a small bowl, mix all the sauce ingredients until smooth. Set aside.

2. Prepare the Beef

Season the ground beef with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Divide into 6 equal portions (about 2.5 oz each) and roll them into balls.

3. Smash & Cook the Beef

  • Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium-high heat.
  • Place a tortilla on a flat surface and set a beef ball in the center.
  • Using a heavy spatula or burger press, smash the beef into a thin patty, pressing it firmly into the tortilla.
  • Transfer the tortilla (beef-side down) onto the hot pan. Let it cook undisturbed for 3-4 minutes until the beef gets crispy and deeply browned.

4. Melt the Cheese

Flip the taco over so the tortilla side is down. Add a slice of cheese on top of the beef and let it melt for about 1 minute. Remove from heat.

5. Assemble & Serve

Top each taco with diced onions, pickles, and a drizzle of the burger sauce. Add shredded lettuce if desired. Serve hot and enjoy!
